Sam and Naomi meet by chance in a hostel in Reykjavik. Thinking they will never see each other again they try to have sex in the luggage room but Naomi chickens out. That night a volcano erupts, grounding all flights and leaving them stranded on the island. Sam steals a car to try to be the first to get to the volcano. Naomi joins him on a road trip into the highlands. Sam finds out that Naomi is on the run, running away from commitment and big life choices. Naomi discovers that Sam has built a wall around himself to protect him from pain and disappointment. Cracks begin to appear in Sam’s defences as Naomi reveals her deepest and darkest secret. Three days after they first met both lives have taken a new direction.

DIRECTOR’S STATEMENT
Naomi and Sam belong to a generation that seems to be having a hard time committing to anything. They are the children of the divorce generation that grew up with two fathers and two mothers, two homes and more. This is a generation that seems to have less sex than previous generations and their tendency to avoid commitment seems to be because they are afraid of failure. In order to understand and come to terms with Gen Z I decided to write them a love letter, but I also decided to put Sam and Naomi in the harsh highlands of Iceland where they can not run away from each other, and therefore can not run away from themselves.
Let’s assume that most of us constantly strive for happiness, or at least try to avoid pain. The more I look around the more I see people in their late twenties and into their thirties unable to find their footing in the world of relationships, commitment and love. Gender roles and family structures are changing and possibly the definition of happiness. There is an overabundance of choice on dating apps and this overabundance might not be making us happier. How can a person begin to form feelings for another person when they can’t stop thinking about the hundreds of other potential dates waiting out there. Why are some of us never content with what is right in front of us and always think the grass is greener on the other side of the fence? These are the characters of this film and this is the audience for ANORGASMIA, a modern take on the dilemmas of commitment, love, purpose and happiness in times of overabundance and confusion.
